What the Golf for All research proves is that there is a clear correlation between increased enjoyment of the game and receiving coaching.

From that, it is surely possible to deduce that if we could find a way to offer more golfers access to coaching then we would be helping the entire industry.

Our research also explores:

1. What people get from their lessons
2. How their priorities vary according to ability
3. Whether men or women are more inclined to take individual lessons
4. Our appetite for group tuition

• 88% of all golfers have found lessons a positive experience
• 94% of regular golfers have found lessons a positive experience
• 91% of occasional golfers have found lessons a positive experience
• 80% of infrequent golfers have found lessons a positive experience
• 51% of all male golfers say lessons have improved their game
• 28% of all female golfers say lessons have improved their game

These are huge figures.

In many ways, the most striking is that four-fifths of infrequent golfers – defined as those playing only once a year and perhaps only adventure golf – value lessons and recognise their efficacy.

This demonstrates that the power of coaching is clearly recognised by all golfers. And as the way that people consume golf continues to change in a profound way, the game needs to find new ways to connect with these consumers. Doing so and helping them to access coaching would be truly transformative for the golf industry.
